I can see a cable coming up from a pipe buried in the floor which goes into this thing, and then from that another cable (2-wire) goes somewhere under the front porch. I’ve had a look and outside it has a very old looking circular junction box which I gather is owned by open reach, inside we have a small rectangular junction box. I don’t know where the master socket is, I think it may have been in the kitchen and got removed when we had the kitchen done years ago. First I went to the socket I want to get working (which is the 2nd line installed by BT if that makes a difference) took the cover of the socket and found it has the orange a blue wires connected. went back to the drop socket (the one where the wires come into the house) and put the incoming white wire into slot 2 and the orange into slot 5 .Old phone junction box.
